Insulative Coatings

Standard Polymer’s comprehensive line of insulative coatings cover all the bases.  Industrial users can expect a product specifically designed for your needs in any setting.  A customer favorite due to its versatility in countless types of applications, is a coating which provides thermal insulating up to 375 degrees.  The CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation), energy savings and protection of your personnel are noteworthy benefits.

Need specialized anti-condensation insulation?  We have you covered.  A unique highly reflective insulating coating is perfect for certain applications requiring a reduction or complete halt to condensation.

The sun can heat and damage the contents of outdoor tanks.  Engineered to be highly reflective of the sun’s rays and prevent solar loading, we have a product that ensures the long-lasting protection of your tank’s contents.

Sound control is a big issue in a myriad of industrial and marine environments.  Assembly line equipment, motors & transformers, machine housing, fans, tanks & storage vessels all present a problem with the sound they generate.  Noise danger/damage caused by resonating metal can be a constant and costly threat.  Our product, which can be easily sprayed into even the tightest spots, not only requires minimal application effort, even while equipment is running, extends the life of the coating for years with minimal maintenance.  Lowering the noise of your equipment enables it to be kept more accessible and viewable for safety inspections.  It also provides very significant cost benefits due to the reduction of costly CUI.

Other special needs exist in specialized fields. We have a product created to offer a thermal protection barrier and anti-condensation qualities for use in harsh marine environments on temps of 50 degrees Fahrenheit or above.

Our product line designed to solve insulation problems for commercial and industrial needs are designed to provide cost savings by upgrading energy efficiency.  Application ease and thermal insulation combined with long-lasting reflective coatings mean little maintenance is required.

Fast response time, highly tested materials, and ease of application all help to ensure our customers’ needs to prevent corrosion, protect personnel, and save energy, all in a very cost-effective manner.

FAQs

What is the maximum temperature of your insulation coatings.

Our insulation coating will withstand temperature up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are insulation coatings used for?

Personnel protection, energy retention and process sustainability.

Will insulation coatings eliminate corrosion under insulation (CUI)?

Yes, insulation coatings bond directly to the substrate, will not absorb any corrosive liquids, do not contain corrosive chlorides, therefore eliminating corrosion under insulation.

How are insulation coatings thickness measured?

Once cured, insulation coatings can be measured with a Type 1 or Type 2  dry film thickness gauge (magnetic pull of gauge or electronic). Wet film thickness can be measured during the installation if the asset is at ambient temperatures. If the insulation coating is being applied to an asset that is in service or at an elevated temperature wet film thickness may not be able to be measured due to material curing rapidly. The dry film thickness of the insulation coating shall be checked to ensure the specified thickness is archived for optimal performance.

Can insulation coatings be applied while assets are in operation?

Yes, if the insulation coating is applied to a substrate with an elevated surface temperature this will allow for a quicker recoat time speeding up the installation of our insulation coatings.

Do you offer lunch and learn seminars for engineering or maintenance?

We have a series of topics available such as; vibration damping grout, corrosion, CUI (corrosion under insulation) and thermal insulation, just to name a few. Our lunch and learns typically last an hour and a half with lunch provided.

How is the thickness of an insulation coating determined for energy retention?

We can create a thermal analysis report that will show BTU savings per hour for our coating applied at various thicknesses. This report can be submitted to find out what thickness will meet your expectations based on the BTU saving per hour.

How is the thickness of an insulation coating determined for personnel protection?

Please request our PP5 personnel protection thickness recommendation chart. This chart shows the minimum coating thickness recommended to achieve personnel protection ASTM standard C1055 and C1057
